Operation Gawi: Two Nomads bikie gang members charged with affray following Hunter River Hotel brawl

TWO Nomads bikies, including a local enforcer, have been charged over a brawl at an East Maitland hotel where one person was allegedly knocked unconscious.
Police are continuing to review closed circuit television footage of the melee at the Hunter River Hotel on Saturday night before determining whether other charges would be laid.
The gang’s sergeant-at-arms of its Newcastle City chapter and another patched member have already been charged with affray.

Police said the pair, aged 26 and 27, had arrived at the hotel with four other men about 10pm.
They approached two men where one of them was allegedly punched in the face.
The other men continued to play pool before they were again approached. A third bystander attempted to get involved and was allegedly knocked unconscious.

The bikies were removed from the hotel as the brawl allegedly continued.
Both charged men have been conditionally bailed to appear in court at a later date.
The brawl comes during a massive crackdown dubbed Operation Gawi, set up by Strike Force Raptor, to look into rumblings within bikie gangs across the Hunter.
